Reports from three US military officials, who spoke to CBS News, indicated that the soldiers were stationed in a makeshift office space within the base. They raised concerns about the adequacy of the building's fortifications, noting that the office was housed in a trailer protected by 12-foot steel-reinforced concrete barriers.
The United States maintains a significant military presence in Kuwait, with over 13,000 troops stationed there as part of a long-standing defense relationship.
