Ulefone Unveils Rugged Smartphone with Detachable Action Camera
At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, Ulefone introduced the RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro, a rugged smartphone that stands out for its innovative detachable camera feature. Unlike traditional smartphones where the camera is fixed to the device, the Xsnap 7 Pro allows users to pop out one of its rear cameras and use it as a standalone action camera. This unique feature is part of a magnetic modular accessory system that the phone supports.
The Xsnap 7 Pro is part of Ulefone's new sub-brand, RugOne, and follows the Xever 7 and 7 Pro models. The phone's design is intentionally thick and bulky, prioritizing ruggedness and functionality over sleekness. This design choice enables it to incorporate features not commonly found in other smartphones, such as the detachable camera.
The detachable camera is smaller than the Insta360 Go Ultra but offers comparable functionality. When separated from the phone, it connects wirelessly, allowing the phone to act as a preview screen. The phone can also download and store footage from the camera and recharge it using its substantial 9,000mAh battery when the camera is docked.
A prototype of the RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro was showcased at MWC 2026, although Ulefone did not disclose pricing or an official launch date. However, some specifications were announced, including a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 5G chip, 12GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. The phone will feature a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with a holepunch 32-megapixel selfie camera and a night vision camera on the back. It will run on Android 16. These specifications are subject to change as the device transitions from prototype to production.
