Suspect Arrested After Gunfire Targets Rihanna's Beverly Hills Home
A 35-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting incident at the Beverly Hills mansion of pop star Rihanna, according to the Los Angeles police. The suspect, identified as Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, is being held with a bail set at $10.2 million. The incident occurred on Sunday at 13:15 local time, when gunfire was reported at the singer's residence.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the attacker allegedly fired an AR-15-style weapon from a vehicle towards the house. At the time of the shooting, Rihanna was reportedly inside the mansion, but no injuries were reported. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and police have found assault rifle casings at the scene.
The suspect's vehicle, a white Tesla, was located approximately eight miles from the scene at the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping center, where Ortiz was taken into custody. She is reportedly from Orlando, Florida, as per a Fox News station in Tampa.
Rihanna, who recently gave birth to her third child, a daughter named Rocki, with partner A$AP Rocky, was in the news earlier this year when A$AP Rocky was found not guilty of firing a gun at a former friend. The couple also shares two sons, Riot and RZA, and they announced Rihanna's latest pregnancy at the Met Gala last year.
Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, gained fame in the early 2000s with hits such as "Pon de Replay" and "Umbrella." The nine-time Grammy Award winner recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of her debut album. Over the years, she has expanded her career into business, launching successful ventures like Fenty Beauty and a lingerie line. Forbes estimates her net worth to be over one billion dollars.
The BBC has reached out to Rihanna's representatives for comment on the incident.
